NSBE Jr. is the National Society of Black Engineers group that is open to students in grades 6-12. The goal of NSBE Jr. is to encourage students to explore and engage in STEM activities that might open up their options for STEM majors in college and the pursuit of STEM careers. Students also learn leadership skills, sharpen their communication skills, and build lasting relationships with their fellow NSBE Jr. members. These students participate in a range of activities throughout the year, including field trips to places like the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at MichiganStateUniversity, hosting a session of the “Ask the Expert” series at the Michigan Science Center, monthly science experiments, and so much more.
